Texas Tech volleyball player Amanda Dowdy is heading into her final season as a Red Raider, and has just recently accepted an invitation to represent to Unites States as part of the USA Volleyball squad at the 2011

European Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia.

The Lexington, Texas native will leave the country on July 10th for London where the USA squad will train for several days with the Great Britain National Team that will take part in the 2012 London Olympics. The European Global Challenge will begin on July 17th with opening ceremonies and will close on July 21st.  Dowdy and team USA are one of just 15 squads hailing from either the U.S. or Europe that will be participating in the tournament.

This years selection marks the second time in her career that Dowdy has traveled to a different country with the USE Volleyball program as she previously competed as a member of the U.S. Women’s Junior National team that finished 12th as the 2008 World Championships in Tijuana, Mexico.
