Texas Tech’s 2021 Basketball Class is Off to a Hot Start
It seems like there has been new Texas Tech Basketball news every few days this past month with players entering the transfer portal, going home to Italy, choosing new schools, transferring to Texas Tech, entering the NBA draft pool, and getting professional contract offers.
That's all 2020 news though.
Texas Tech basketball is also simultaneously getting ready for 2021 by getting the first commit for the 2021 class and it's a great start with the commitment of 4-star guard Jaylon Tyson from John Paul II high school in Plano, Texas.
Tyson is a 6'6", for now, perimeter player who has great guard skills who can create for himself and his teammates. A former Red Raider who might give you an idea of his body type and athleticism is Justin Gray who was a pivotal member of Tubby Smiths run to the NCAA Tournament and Chris Beard's first two seasons in Lubbock and the first Beard tournament run that got the Red Raiders all the way to the Elite 8.
The athleticism is off the charts for Tyson who could grow a few more inches and fill out with the help of John Rielly when he gets to Lubbock next season. Tyson chose the Red Raiders over offers from Texas A&M, Richmond, SMU, Xavier, Creighton, Houston and Oklahoma among others.
