The Texas Longhorns coaching staff was decimated after Coach Tom Herman had a down year and fired most of his staff. While Texas has moved on and won big in the Alamo Bowl and hired a new staff, the former Longhorn coaches are now landing at new spots.

One of those new spots is allegedly Texas Tech:

Pete Thamel reported that former Texas defensive coordinator and long-time colleague and friend Todd Orlando would be joining the Texas Tech staff. confirmed the news and added that Orlando would coach the linebackers and be tabbed as the assistant head coach.

Adding to the news, Craig Naivar, the Texas Longhorns former CB coach and interim DC for the bowl game is also headed to the Red Raiders as well to be the CB coach in Lubbock.

When you bring in two new coaches there will also be two coaches losing jobs as well.

According to Thamel and the two coaches who are out in Lubbock are Safeties coach Kerry Cooks and Cornerbacks coach Juice Brown.

The secondary ranked dead last in the Big 12 last season in conference play giving up more than 60 yards per game more than the second-worst secondary, which was Texas. The Red Raiders also yielded nearly 10 yards per pass play.

Coach Patterson will remain the defensive coordinator and coach the safeties after coaching the linebackers last year.
