Texas Tech vs Oklahoma Slated For Primetime
The Texas Tech Red Raiders for the third time this season have been selected to take part in a 7 p.m. kickoff. This time, instead of it being at home, they will be on the road when they travel to Norman to take on the Baker Mayfield led Oklahoma Sooners. National television coverage will be provided by either ABC or ESPN 2.
The last time Texas Tech played a primetime game on the road in Norman, they beat Oklahoma 41-38. After a 104 minute rain delay the Red Raiders proceeded to stun the #3 Sooners and end their impressive 39 game home winning streak.
The last time the Red Raiders and Sooners squared up against each other, both offenses absolutely exploded as both teams combined for a total of 854 yards each of total offense. Patrick Mahomes tied a FBS record for passing yards in a game as he had 734 yards through the air and then set a new FBS record for total yards by a player when he totaled 819 total yards. Baker Mayfield tossed 7 touchdowns and Joe Mixon finished with 263 yards on the ground. Oklahoma, however would come away with the win by a final of 66-59.
Before Tech can think about Oklahoma, they must first take on homecoming opponent, Iowa State (4-2) which is the same team that beat the Sooners two weeks ago in Norman. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. with television coverage being provided by FOX Sports 1.
