Texas Tech – TCU Football Game Moved to Thursday Night September 12th
Texas Tech Football’s Big 12 opener at home against TCU has moved to a week night.
The Red Raiders and TCU Horned Frogs will play on Thursday Night for a national TV game on FOX Sports or ESPN. The Big 12 TV contract calls for 4 football games a season to be broadcast on Thursday nights.
The last time Texas Tech played a Thursday night football game was in 1994 when they hosted the No. 1 Nebraska Cornhuskers. Nebraska won that game 42-16 in front of a national audience on ESPN.
Tech’s season opener was moved yesterday. The Texas Tech-SMU game to be played in Dallas on August 31st will now be played on Friday, August 30th.
The game was moved to accommodate an ESPN broadcast at 7 p.m. The last time the Red Raiders played on Friday night was in 2002 when they defeated the New Mexico Lobos in Albuquerque 49-0. That was in Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury’s senior season with Tech.
