Does Gary Patterson Still Have Enough Juice to Compete in the Big 12?
The Frogs had some impressive and meaningful wins last season, including a thriller against Texas, yet the team still missed a bowl game for only the third time under Gary Patterson. With several departures to the NFL and the hanging question surrounding quarterback Max Duggan’s health, changing the outcome this season may be difficult.
The running back position may be the key to TCU’s success offensively. All though inexperienced, the running back pool definitely has talent and depth. Linebacker Garret Wallow led the big 12 in tackles last season, and talented safeties Ar’Darius Washington, and Trevon Moehrig will lead a defense that will feature new faces and youth. If they can find their footing quickly this group could be dangerous, but if they stumble out of the gate it will be too much for them to overcome.
Sonny Cumbie is finally the sole offensive coordinator in Fort Worth, but In what is likely Cumbie's final season in Fort Worth, TCU's offense needs to overperform to live up to their 6 win totals while Gary Patterson's defense does what it always does.
