The rumored changes among Tommy Tuberville's assistant coaches were officially announced today.

Offensive line coach Matt Moore and defensive backs coach Otis Mounds were both fired from the Texas Tech coaching staff.  Defensive line coach Sam McElroy will be reassigned within the Texas Tech Athletic Department but will no longer serve as an assistant coach.

Coach Tuberville today also announced the hiring of two new defensive assistant coaches: Terry Price and John Lovett. Price has spent the past three seasons coaching the defensive line at Mississippi and he will coach the defensive line for the Red Raiders.  Lovett's previous coaching position was as the defensive coordinator for the Miami Hurricanes in 2009 & 2010. His upcoming tenure with the Red Raiders will be his third coaching stint with Tommy Tuberville. He previously coached with Tuberville at Mississippi from 1995-1998 and at Auburn from 1999-2001.

“Terry and John are going to be great additions to our football family here at Texas Tech and we are thrilled that they are now Red Raiders,” said Tuberville.  “They both have many years of experience at the highest level in college football and are regarded as tremendous coaches and recruiters.  I am excited to have them and their families here with us and look forward to the excitement they will bring to our program.”

Coach Tuberville also stated the offensive line assistant coaching position will be filled at a later date.

Texas Tech Red Raider Football finished the 2011 season with a 5-7 record.
