Texas Tech seniors Raony Carvalho and Gonzalo Escobar closed out their Texas Tech careers today with a loss to Ohio State in the NCAA Men's Doubles National Championship. The No. 18-seeded Texas Tech pair fell 7-6, 6-3 to the nation's No. 1 tandem from Ohio State, Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola.

The match this afternoon was anything but ordinary at the University of Georgia. The match started, as scheduled, outdoors, but a diving rain late into first set forced the match to be suspended.  At the time of the suspension, Ohio State led the first set 5-4.

When the match resumed, it was in Georgia's indoor facility.

"We got a bad break with the rain. I think going indoors hurt us," said Red Raider Tennis head coach Tim Siegel. "Ohio State is an indoor team and they raised the level enough to win."

The Carvalho-Escobar pair will go down in Tech history as the most successful Men's Doubles pairing. They finished the season with a 14-2 record.
