The Texas Tech Red Raiders had Celebrate America night against the Kansas Jayhawks. The opening ceremonies featured several paratroopers and a flyover from a C-130.

The paratroopers were announced as they descended and a few of them carried flags underneath them as they dropped into the Jones from high above. The biggest cheers were for this giant American flag and a Texas Tech flag.

That flag looked really good flying through the crisp blue Lubbock sky.

The Red Raider flag paratrooper really nailed the landing.

That Double T flag also looked great.

The paratroopers were also honored during the game.

The Goin' Band from Raiderland also honored America by paying tribute to the branches of the United States Military. The Army, Navy and Air Force are featured below. The Goin' Band also played the signature songs from each of the branches.

There was also a moment of silence before the game for the fallen.

The Celebrate America game followed a day after Veteran's Day. The special recognition has been done at Texas Tech for several seasons now. There were a few seasons with specialty uniforms, like the Never Quit Uniforms and the Wounded Warrior uniforms.

Texas Tech led 24-21 at halftime, and the Red Raiders extended that lead to 33-21 by early in the 4th quarter. They'll try to hold on against an electric Jayhawks offense that can strike at any moment.
