Texas Tech Red Raider Basketball was picked to finish 8th in the Big 12 Men’s Basketball pre-season poll for the 2023-24 season. The upcoming season marks the inaugural year for Head Coach Grant McCasland leading the Red Raider program.
The rest of the Big 12 Preseason poll:
- Kansas
- Houston
- Texas
- Baylor
- TCU
- Kansas State
- Iowa State
- Texas Tech
- West Virginia
- Oklahoma State
- Cincinnati
- Oklahoma
- BYU
- Central Florida
Texas Tech finished 9th last season in the Big 12 with a 16-16 record and a 5-13 conference record. The season was tumultuous on and off the court for the Red Raiders which saw the resignation of Mark Adams and a rare down season compared to the past several years for the program.
The Red Raiders also were snubbed with no players mentioned on the All-Conference preseason honors going into this season where the conference will have 14 members before the departures of Oklahoma and Texas, but welcome in national power Houston along with BYU, Central Florida, and Cincinnati. In 2024 the Big 12 welcomes perennial blue blood, the Arizona Wildcats, along with Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah.
The Red Raiders open the season November 8th in Lubbock hosting Texas A&M-Commerce.
