Lady Chaps Return Home to Hero’s Welcome
The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaps basketball team received a hero’s welcome Wednesday morning when they returned to the Rip Griffin Center as 35-0 National Champions.
The parking lot was packed full of spirited LCU fans basking in the glow of LCU's freshly completed undefeated campaign.
One excited LCU fan was District 19 Congressman Randy Neugebauer.
Neugebauer spoke with KAMC News about the Lady Chaps and the recognition they have gotten.
"Girls know how to play basketball out here in West Texas, it's a great example for younger girls who are starting to dribble a little bit," said Neugebauer (quote via KAMC). "They see these young women win a National Championship, so it's a role model and I think we'll reap the benefits of that in the future."
Thursday, April 7, Lubbock Christian University will hold a celebration for the National Champion Lady Chaps at the Rip Griffin Center beginning at 5:30 p.m. There is no entry fee, and free hot dogs and snacks will be given away to the first 1,000 people in attendance.
