Texas Tech Basketball Adds Another Big Non-Conference Opponent for 2018
The Texas Tech men’s basketball team will take on Memphis as part of the 2018 HoopHall Invitational on Saturday, December 2018 in Miami in the home of the NBA's Miami Heat.
The event will be a four game feature with St. Johns facing Georgia Tech, North Carolina State playing Vanderbilt and Miami squaring off with Yale. The games will be featured on one of ESPN's networks with the game times still TBD.
This will be the Red Raiders seventh time facing the Memphis Tigers and the first meeting since the 1985-86 season. Tubby Smith was at the University of Memphis after bailing on Texas Tech but He and the school parted ways this off-season making way for NBA Legend Penny Hardaway to take over as the head coach, no word on if he is bringing Little Penny along as an assistant.
Memphis will return their top five scorers headed by Jeremiah Martin and Kyvon Davenport while Texas Tech lost five of their top six only returning Jarrett Culver.
Texas Tech has also scheduled Duke for a December 20th meeting at Madison Square Garden in New York City and are scheduled to play Arkansas on January 26th as a part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
