Texas Tech Baseball Earns 5th National Seed in NCAA Tournament
The Big 12 Regular Season Champion Texas Tech Red Raiders learned their seeding in the 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament Monday morning.
The Red Raiders (41-16, 19-5 Big 12) were awarded the 5th National Seed and will host the first round of weekend games for the NCAA Tournament and will host the Super Regional in two weeks if they advance this weekend in the double-elimination tournament.

The Lubbock Regional features Texas Tech as the no. 1 seed taking on no. 4 seed Fairfield (32-24) while no. 2 seed Dallas Baptist (41-17) will take on no. 3 seed New Mexico (38-21). The Red Raiders played New Mexico three times this season in midweek action going 2-1 against the Lobos and winning the lone contest in Lubbock 14-10 on March 22nd.
The Red Raiders and Fairfield play Friday (June 3) at 2 p.m. CT at Rip Griffin Park with coverage on ESPN3 and the ESPN App. If Texas Tech wins their regional this weekend, they will host the winner of the Charlottesville Regional where defending National Champion Virginia (37-20) is hosting William and Mary, East Carolina, and Bryant.
