Texas Rangers Fall to Toronto Blue Jays 11-5

The Texas Rangers fell to the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday afternoon 11-5, giving the Rangers consecutive losses for the first time this season.

Left-hander Matt Harrison had his second tough outing in a row as the Blue Jays got to him to the tune of eight hits and eight runs in 3 1/3 innings. Reliever Scott Feldman allowed three runs, all on Edwin Encarnacion’s ninth homer of the season, in 2 2/3 innings of work.

Kelly Johnson added a two-run shot in the in the third, his sixth of the year, to kick start Toronto’s scoring.

Yunel Escobar had three hits, including a bases-loaded triple in a six-run fourth inning, as the Blue Jays took two of three from the AL West-leading Rangers. Texas has not won a series in Toronto since sweeping a two-game set in April 2008.

Ricky Romero (4-0) picked up the win for his fourth in five starts, giving up five runs and six hits in eight innings. The left-hander walked three and struck out a season-high six.

Brandon Snyder, who made his first career Major League start in left field, not only caught a fly ball for the first out of the game, but gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead with his first career Major League home run in the second.

The Rangers have Thursday off before stating a three game series at Cleveland Friday.
