Tech Basketball Falls Short To Seton Hall
Last night the Texas Tech men's basketball team played against the Seton Hall Pirates in the Under Armour Reunion game. In what felt just like a game you would see in the month of March, the #22 Red Raiders started out slow but took a three point lead going into the half.
The three pointer would be huge for the Pirates in the second half as Seton Hall was over 50% from downtown. The Red Raiders would fight hard and valiantly but in the end Seton Hall would pick up the win by a final of 89-79.
Kennan Evans led the way for the Red Raiders, going 9-16 from the field, scoring 21 points and having 6 assists to go along with. Freshman, Jarrett Culver finished with 17 points in yet another impressive performance from the Coronado graduate. Zhaire Smith ended with 11 points, making all five of his free throw shots and even throwing down this sweet dunk in transition.
Norense Odiase finished with double digit rebounds for the first time this season, and Zach smith finished with 12 points.
With the loss the Red Raiders are now 6-1 on the season and they just might lose their newly acquired #22 ranking in the AP poll, however this Seton Hall Pirate team is no slouch. The Pirates were just a few votes from being in the top 25 themselves and they will more than likely be a tournament team that could bust a few brackets this year.
This was a good experience and a good loss for the Red Raiders. You played a top 25 team very tough, and had great support from not only your freshmen but your upperclassmen as well. Seton Hall just shot the ball better and if this game were played again, I think you'd see a different outcome.
On the schedule next for the Red Raiders, they will return back to Lubbock to host the Nevada Wolf Pack (7-0) on Tuesday, December 5th at 7:00 inside the United Supermarkets Arena.
