Today’s Texas Tech Football practice report is filed by 1340 The Fan’s Rob Brennan

Lubbock, TX (1340TheFan.com) -- Cool, overcast weather made for a pleasant morning if you got to watch Texas Tech football practice on Friday morning.  Although practice itself was far from pleasant.

Two seperate brawls occured during practice, one between the offensive and defensive lines during line drills.  The other occurred towards the end of practice during 11-on-11 as offensive lineman LaAdrian Waddle pulled a helmet off a defensive lineman and tossed him to the ground.

"We had a couple push-arounds out here with guys losing their temper a bit, but that's good they're competing against each other," said Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville.  "You're gonna lose tempers when you got guys going against each other everyday.  One guy wins, the other guy wins.  One guy may hold on offense, the other guy might grab a guy's facemask, those little things happen.  But it's good to see teammates come to each other, and break each other up."

Guard Beau Carpenter returned to practice.  Tuberville says he is almost at full speed.  Guard La'Raven Clark was in full pads, but he as well as lineman Tony Morales are not expected to participate in practice until Monday.

Tuberville said Saturday's scrimmage in Jones AT&T stadium will have his first teams see about 40 plays.  The second team is expected to see about 30-35 plays.  Tuberville also added the second practice of Friday's two-a-day session will focus mostly on special teams.
