Lubbock ISD police responded to the Lubbock High School campus to investigate and found no evidence of a weapon on campus.

On Thursday, January 9th, administrators at Coronado High School were made aware of a student who had brought a firearm onto school property.

According to a memorandum, Baum is not allowed on school property without administrative approval and can't have any contact with LISD students or faculty.

Before school started on Friday, December 20th, another firearm was confiscated from a student at Smylie Wilson Middle School, making this the 3rd one to be confiscated in the past few weeks.

The new school will be named Commander William C. McCool Academy, after the 1979 Coronado High School graduate and pilot of Space Shuttle Columbia.
