Here’s When The First Day of School Is For Lubbock-Area School Districts
It may have been a long, hot summer, but the first day of school is just around the corner and for many South Plains families, it will be here before you know it. That also means you will start seeing more back to school events happening in and around Lubbock.
While it may seem as though Splash Pads around Lubbock just opened, August is back to school time for students in Texas. For a more detailed look at your district's schedule, be sure to look at them online. There are some South Plains School Districts that only have classes four days a week.
When Is The First Day Of School For Lubbock Schools?
Lubbock Independent School District, along with Lubbock-Cooper ISD, Frenship ISD, and Roosevelt ISD will all have the first day of school on Wednesday, August 14.

Monday, August 12- First day of school for Post ISD
Tuesday, August 13- First day of school for Slaton ISD, Tahoka ISD, Sundown ISD and Plainview ISD
Wednesday, August 14- First day of school for Idalou ISD, Ropes ISD, Abernathy ISD, Ralls ISD, Lorenzo ISD, Brownfield ISD, Crosbyton CISD
Thursday, August 15- First day of school for Levelland ISD
Monday, August 19- First day of school for Shallowater ISD
Wednesday, August 21- First day of school for Littlefield ISD, New Home ISD
When Do Classes Begin At Texas Tech, Lubbock Christian, and South Plains College?
The first day of classes at Texas Tech University and the start of the Fall 2024 semester will be on Thursday, August 22. Lubbock Christian University and South Plains College being their Fall Semesters on Monday, August 26.
