Storms In Dallas Delay Flights To and From Lubbock Monday
If you are planning on flying out of Lubbock on Monday to Dallas, or simply connecting to a flight from DFW Airport or Dallas Love Field, there is a chance you will be delayed. And it's not just flights out of Lubbock that are delayed. Flights to Lubbock have been delayed as of Monday morning and the delay's are now moving into the afternoon for an American Airlines flight from Dallas to Lubbock.
One Southwest Airlines flight from Dallas that was supposed to arrive in Lubbock after noon on Monday has been cancelled.
The reason for the delays and flights that have been cancelled, is because of the major storm system over Dallas.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the National Weather Service reported thunderstorms were going to be able to produce up to eight inches of rain. The storms have led to floods.
Areas around the Trinity River will remain under a flood warning until Tuesday morning, according to the weather service. The river is forecast to rise to 34.3 feet Monday evening; the flood stage is 30 feet.
Neighborhoods near downtown Dallas, Deep Ellum and Fair Park were impacted by flooding Monday morning. The Dallas Water Utility recorded about 8.4 inches of rainfall in parts of Old East Dallas over 12 hours.
The Dallas Morning News also reported that the storms have caused hundreds of flight issues out of DFW and Dallas Love Field. Storms are expected to continue for the Dallas area throughout the week though chances of rain will go down each week.
As for Lubbock, our weather looks to be great the rest of the week with high temperatures ranging from the low 80's to the upper 80's with low chances of rain.
