Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Two Suspects After Local Car Chase

Deputies with the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people Thursday after a car chase.

The chase began around 2:40 p.m. when deputies attempted to pull over a black BMW on 42^nd Street at Avenue Q. The driver of the BMW refused to stop and attempted to flee authorities.

The chase came to an end near 81^st Street and Avenue J, where the driver then tried to flee on foot. Deputies were able to apprehend the suspect in a nearby backyard.

That suspect has since been identified as 31-year-old Gary Gonzales. His passenger, 22 year-old Brianna Hernandez, was also arrested and both face multiple charges, including evading arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with evidence.
