On Sunday (June 9), a construction crane toppled and fell onto an apartment complex in Dallas, Texas. Investigators are still trying to determine exactly what caused the massive crane to fall, but they believe that 70 mile-per-hour winds from a sudden and strong thunderstorm were a major factor.

The crane fell just before 2 p.m. right onto the five-story Elan City Lights apartment complex, located in the heart of Dallas. Eight to ten apartments were damaged or completely destroyed, according to news sources.

Multiple outlets report that one woman has been confirmed dead and at least six others injured, two of them critically. Some of the wounded were taken to the nearby Baylor University Medical Center and others to the Parkland Memorial Hospital.

Dallas Police have not yet determined the exact cause of the crane collapse or if any human error or negligence may be partly to blame.
