Oklahoma State Survives Game 2 in Lubbock Super Regional
The Texas Tech Red Raiders fell short in their quest to sweep the Super Regional on their home field but the game wasn't without its fair share of drama in the 6-5 wild pitch-off win for Oklahoma State.
The Cowboys would take an early one-run lead in the bottom of the first inning after a single and a stolen base got a Cowboys into scoring position and a single knocked him in.
The Red Raiders would answer back in the top of the third. Dru Baker, who got the start at 3rd base, worked a walk before moving to third on a Braxton Fulford single. Baker would come home on an infield hit by Gabe Holt.
Nobody would score again until Hueston Morrill would put his second home run of the year over the fence to score 3 and make it a 3-1 game in the bottom of the 5th. Texas Tech would get one back in the top of the 6th to make it 3-2 on a Cam Warren groundout.
Dru Baker would continue his heroics with a solo blast in the 7th to tie the game at 3 all and then provide the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the 8th. 4-3 Texas Tech.
At this point the Red Raider faithful feel pretty good with a bullpen that had been nails recently. After a single to Morrill to lead off the inning and a pitching change, Dane Haveman allowed the go-ahead home run bomb to Collin Simpson. 5-4 Cowboys.
Texas Tech would tie the game in the top of the 9th inning with its fourth straight inning scoring only one run after Gabe Holt forced a throwing error on an infield hit and got to second base. He then got to third on a Dylan Neuse infield single before a sac fly brought him home.
Three walks and several wild pitches for a combination of Clayton Beeter and Taylor Floyd would end the game for the Red Raiders and provide the walk-off win for Oklahoma State.
The two teams meet again on Sunday afternoon at 5:00 pm for a decisive game 3.
