Quarterback Nic Shimonek is done playing football at Texas Tech, but that doesn't mean he's done playing football.

Shimonek participated in the East West Shrine Game on the NFL Network this weekend.

The former Texas Tech QB started and finished the game for the West squad, out-performing East starter JT Barrett from Ohio State. Shimonek threw the game-winning touchdown with less than two minutes left on the clock. He completed 12 of 18 passes for 105 yards.

Shimonek tossed a beautiful ball to Steven Dunbar, who commented on the throw after the game: "Nic threw a great pass, and I couldn't do anything but catch it," said Dunbar. "It was a play we tried a couple of times, and it was finally there. I'm just thankful to be in a position to do this."

Shimonek will now test his skill against the NFL draft, after assorted pro days and tryouts.
