Two New Mexico natives who allegedly sold an undercover officer "ghost guns" and THC wax have been indicted for drug and gun crimes.

On Wednesday, September 8th, 2021, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Prerak Shah announced the indictment of 25 year-old Isaiah Dante Moreno and 22 year-old Elias Ignacio Sisneros.

The charges were possession of unregistered firearms, possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute tetrahydrocannabinols (THC), and distribution of THC.

The U.S. Department of Justice stated that Moreno and Sisneros allegedly sold an undercover DEA officer four fully-automatic, AR-style firearms as well as a pound of THC wax during a buy in Lubbock.

Moreno allegedly manufactured the firearms, nicknamed "ghost guns," due to them being assembled from unregistered firearm parts. These guns also don't have serial numbers, resulting in the firearms being difficult to track.

Moreno and Sisneros were pulled over for a traffic violation and, after a search of the vehicle, they were both arrested. The search found additional THC wax, two handguns, and money from the deal.

If convicted of the above charges, the two individuals face up to life in federal prison.

The Drug Enforcement Administration's Dallas Field Division, along with the Lubbock Resident Office, spearheaded the investigation with help from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Caprock HIDTA, Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Taskforce, the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, Lubbock Police Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
