The Monterey Plainsmen went down to Abilene to play a Regional Semi-Final Series against Lake Dallas at the ACU facilities.

Monterey went into the weekend undefeated in the playoffs but that wouldn't last long as they would go down 5-4 in game one of the best of three series against Lake Dallas on Friday Night.

Monterey wouldn't mess around on Saturday morning absolutely hammering Lake Dallas in game two to even the series outscoring them 10-1. Monterey got 12 hits in the game on route to their double digit performance.

In game three the Lubbock school would keep flexing and force their way into the Regional final for a chance to play for a State Championship. Monterey would win again by the tune of 10-2 finishing off Lake Dallas in dominating fashion.

The star of the day was Jaden Guerrero who pitched in both games notching wins in the first and second games pitching more than nine innings and only allowing two runs across both games. Braden Benton went 5-5 with two doubles and three RBI to lead the way in game three.

Congratulations to Monterey who now moves on to face Colleyville Heritage next weekend. Heritage will be the toughest test yet with Major League prospects on the Panthers roster including a likely top-3 pick Bobby Witt Jr.
