Lubbock-Cooper ISD has announced that online instruction will end on October 13th for secondary students and October 19th for elementary students.
Secondary students currently receiving virtual instruction are expected to be present for school on campus on October 13th, and the same goes for elementary students on October 19th.
KAMC News reports that around 10% of all Lubbock-Cooper ISD students are being taught virtually, and among them, less than 10% of secondary students have remained actively engaged throughout the process. It's also said less than 40% of elementary students have remained actively engaged.
The district believes that it is their job to serve students and provide them with the best possible educational opportunities.
Students returning from virtual instruction may receive instruction at a different campus upon their return to traditional instruction.
Many families chose virtual learning due to concerns over COVID-19, so the district has given families the following options if they wish to continue virtual learning:
- unenrolling the child from Lubbock-Cooper ISD to homeschool them
- transferring the child to another school district that offers virtual instruction
- unenrolling the child from Lubbock-Cooper ISD and enrolling them in an online school
Students returning to campus should bring their district-owned technology to school.
Parents planning to unenroll their child are asked to make arrangements with the campus to return all district-owned technology.
