Back on June 14th, 2022 an amazing family here in Lubbock lost their home due to a fire.

Lubbock Fire Rescue said it was an accidental cooking fire that happened Tuesday afternoon that left one person injured and killed two dogs. This family is The May family and the Lubbock Community Theatre is stepping up to help and hold a benefit.

It was actually the Executive Director, Heather Mays' family who lost their home. If you have never met her she is such an amazing person and has a kind heart. She does so much for this community and it is our time to give back to them.

Her family escaped fine but they lost the home and everything inside. The event will be a benefit concert with all local talent.

"We have been really blessed at a time that could be really awful and even more devastating. My son really had nothing and friends brought up flip-flops just so he could leave the hospital," said Heather.

The benefit concert will be held on Friday, June 24th, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. It will be at the LCT Main Stage located at 3101 35th St Lubbock, Texas. This will be a free concert but donations will be accepted and appreciated.

There are some other ways you can help too. They created a Facebook group called "Helping The Mays" and they are asking people to help with relief efforts and different things needed there.

Heather told me, "I just love how our community has come together and helped us so much. Without this support, we wouldn't be on any type of stable footing."

They've also created a meal train where you can sign up and send meals to the family or financial donations to help them have meals.

LCT is also excepting donations that you can drop off at their location on Monday through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. located at 3101 35th St Lubbock, Texas. You can just call LCT at (806) 749-2416 to coordinate it.

You can also send monetary donations to Venmo at @JustinMay80 or check out their Amazon wishlist for more ways to help.
In addition to that, Nothing Bundt Cakes is donating 20% of their sales all week long next week back to the May's family. They are located at 5217 98th St Suite 300, Lubbock, TX 79424 or you can order on their website.

If you have any more questions you can check out their Facebook page for the event.
