One person was seriously injured Wednesday morning (Sept. 18) in a car accident on Highway 62-82 near Idalou, Texas.

Texas DPS reports that the crash occurred about 4 a.m. between a 1988 Peterbilt semi-truck and a 2012 Ford pickup. DPS says the Ford pickup was traveling west on US 62 and crossed the center median, colliding with the semi-truck traveling in the eastbound lanes.

KAMC News reports that the Jaws of Life had to be used to rescue the driver of the pickup, identified as 42-year-old Arcadio Hernandez Jr. of Lorenzo, Texas. He suffered serious injures in the accident and had to be taken to the University Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the semi-truck, identified as 58-year-old Curtis Wayne Young of Lubbock, was not injured in the crash. Both drivers were reportedly wearing seat-belts.
