A Wilson Independent School District educator is currently in custody after turning himself in to authorities. Back on January 5, information was received via social media that an employee from Wilson ISD was placed on administrative leave on December 30th.

The only explanation given at the time was that the unnamed employee had inappropriate interactions with high school students. An investigation was also launched immediately by the Lynn County Sheriff's Office and Child Protective Services after Superintendent JP Portillo addressed the situation. It was revealed online by the Lynn County Sheriff's Office that William Ray Palmer III was that educator placed on leave and he had turned himself into authorities on Monday, January 9.

Palmer was indicted that same day on charges of an Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student, Indecency with a Child by Contact, and Indecency with a Child by Exposure. KAMC news reported that Parmer was Wilson ISD's Athletic Director, High School Math teacher, and Boys Basketball Coach at the time of the incident with the student(s).

One of the charges is a third-degree felony and two are second-degree felonies and if Palmer is convicted could result in a sentence of 24 to 50 years in prison with a $30,000 fine. As per the publishing of this article, Palmer remains in the Lynn County Detention Center on a bond totaling $190,000.
