A man was arrested after a robbery and carjacking in Lubbock involving the use of a large weapon. The Lubbock Police Department was dispatched to the 3600 block of Marshall Street on Wednesday, September 13, on reports of a robbery. At the scene police spoke with the victim who told police that they were attacked while parked at the Cameron Court Apartments.

KAMC news reports that the attacker, 30-year-old Joseph James, was sitting in their car at the apartment before going up to the victim with a large knife and cutting him twice. The victim did tell police that during the altercation he tried to grab his own gun to defend himself but was unable to at the time of the attack. While the victim ran out of the vehicle to a nearby residence James was able to take the victims belongings including that gun and vehicle.

Later that day police did a routine traffic stop after seeing a vehicle with a folded license plate in the 4900 block of the Marsha Sharp Freeway. That officer was able to identify James and the vehicle that he was in was the car that was stolen earlier that day from the Cameron Court Apartments. During a check of the vehicle is when police discovered all of the victims belongs and other things such as suspected cocaine and blood believed to be from the victim after getting cut by James.

As per the publishing of this article Joseph James is still currently being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on five charges. Those charges include Aggravated Robbery, Theft of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
