Kansas City Chiefs Extend Another Superstar in Blockbuster Offseason

The reigning, defending Super Bowl champions continue to make splashes in a wild offseason.

First, they locked up MVP Patrick Mahomes to a 10-year extension. Then they locked up arguably their most important defensive player Chris Jones for 4-years. Now the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms with tight end Travis Kelce on a four-year contract extension worth $57 million. Kelce's deal includes almost $25 million in guaranteed money, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports.

The move keeps Kelce and Mahomes together for at least 6 seasons as Kelce is still signed through 2021. The 30-year-old, five-time pro bowler has racked up at least 80 catches and 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last four seasons, including a 103-reception, 1,336-yard, 10-touchdown campaign in 2018.

What makes the Kelce signing even more incredible is that the Chiefs had $177 in cap space after Super Bowl 54. People thought the team would have to let Chris Jones walk and Mahomes and Kelce would be waiting on their extensions by Brett Veach and the front office team of Brandt Tilis and Chris Shea got the job done.
