Phil Mickelson had placed second five times at the US Open and was looking to end that streak as he entered the final day of the Open with lead at 1 under par.  The infamous Marion golf course would have other plans though as he would shoot his worst round of the tournament with a 3 over par effort.  That +3 would only be good enough for his sixth second place finish at the US Open.

Britain's own Justin Rose (Pictured on the Left) would be the golfer to come out on top over the weekend as he shot even par on Sunday to win at +1.  It was his first major tournament victory and he became the first Englishman for 43 years to win the US Open.

Tiger Woods was the favorite heading into the weekend but really struggled for the majority of the weekend as he finished tied for 32nd with a final score of +13 for the tournament.  The next major tournament is the Open Championship at Muirfield golf course in Scotland on July 18-21.
