Gary Woodland won his first major championship Sunday, shooting a twp under par 69to win the US Open by three shots over defending champion Brooks Koepka.

Woodland, whose best finish in a major was a tie for sixth in the PGA Championship in 2018, played steady golf in the final round, with four birdies and two bogeys.

Koepka challenged early, with birdies on four of the first five holes, but played the rest of the round at one over.

Woodland had only three top ten finishes in majors before the win today.

Justin Rose, playing in the final group, entered the day just one shot back, but shot a three over par 74 to finish in a four way tie for third.
