Joe Nathan Blows Save, Costs Texas Rangers Game Against Cleveland Indians
Texas Rangers closer Joe Nathan saw his club record 31 straight save chances come to an end as he allowed three runs in the ninth in a 5-4 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Nathan's last blown save came back in April.
The Rangers led 4-2 coming into the ninth before Indians batters Jason Kipnis and Ezequiel Carrea both belted home runs to propel Cleveland to victory.
The Rangers are now 85-58 for the year and three games ahead of the second place Oakland A's.
Texas returns to action tonight to start a three game series hosting the Seattle Mariners. Starting on the mound tonight for the Rangers is Yu Darvish. He has a record of 14-9 with an ERA of 4.14, while the Mariners will have Hisashi Iwakuma on the mound. He has a record of 6-4 with an ERA of 3.39.
