It looks like Cattle Baron in Lubbock, located at 8201 Quaker Avenue in the Kingsgate Center South, may be closed for good. We're working to find out more.

The parking lot has been very quiet for a while now, and there's a note on the door that says they won't be opening today and refers visitors to their website and Facebook page for more info.

Following the trail to the Cattle Baron website, we see that Lubbock's restaurant has been removed from the locations dropdown. Checking in on their Facebook page shows no recent updates or news. The last post there (as of the publication of this story) is from March. Is no news good news? Well, it certainly leaves us wondering.

Cattle Baron is such an iconic steak house with a huge history and an amazing menu. We're hoping that they will reopen.

So the search continues to a phone call. Because why not pick up a gold old fashioned phone and attempt to speak to a human? However, this is where things really get confusing because the number for our Lubbock restaurant seems to have been disconnected! At their corporate office, they have limited hours and we were unable to speak with anyone.

An online search brings us to other temporarily closed locations, like Midland (set to reopen July 1st, 2020) and Ruidoso, New Mexico (they're looking to reopen soon, according to their Facebook page). However, El Paso's locations are open.

So to the phone we go, because it looks like New Mexico locations are open. So we put calls in to Hobbs and Roswell locations. They answered their phones, but didn't have any idea about the status of Lubbock's Cattle Baron restaurant.

So, our investigation is a little stalled out right here. We can only hope that this longstanding steakhouse with its incredible prime rib, seafood, and tremendous salad bar will reopen for us soon here in Lubbock. We hope to find some more solid answers soon and will keep you posted.

Cattle Baron is such an iconic steak house with a huge history and an amazing menu. We're hoping that they will reopen. We wish them the very best on a safe reopening across the board during this challenging time.
