Over the last decade, I've downed my share of vodka-based drinks. In bars, around Lubbock and at home, the clear spirit is among my favorite spirits. I've certainly never been a vodka snob, but I usually picked Tito's if given the option and generally bought the Austin-based brand if I was purchasing at a local liquor store.

However, I might be looking for a new official vodka for my escapades after Tito's Handmade Vodka committed $20 million dollars to help the University of Texas improve their athletics practice facilities.

Now, I'm not usually one to boycott things, but over the last few years I've been venturing out in my vodka preferences anyways with Western Son vodka being my go-to at home since early in 2020. Lord knows how many bottles of vodka I've downed in the last two years at home.

The press release, in conjunction with Tito's Vodka's news, is that the $20 million gift won't just benefit Chris Beard's basketball program or Texas Longhorns football; it will also help the rowing team and the women's basketball team.

Given the current state of the City of Lubbock, with Chris Beard returning on Tuesday, February 1st to fight, I mean, coach against Mark Adams' Texas Tech team, tensions are high between the two fanbases. I mean, Tito's is based in Austin, so the gift shouldn't be a surprise, but it might be time that Lubbock's favorite drink finds a new dance partner. That drink being the Chilton. If you need a refresher on the Chilton, here are the drink's 10 commandments.

I'm not telling you to stop drinking Tito's, but if you're wanting to taste around, here are 10 other Texas-distilled vodkas for your drinking pleasure:

10 Other Texas-Based Vodkas

Not saying you won't be drinking Tito's anymore, but if you are looking for a new Vodka, here are a few suggestions.
