Iran Launches Missiles at U.S. Military Base in Iraq
ABC News and the Associated Press both reported Tuesday night that Iran fired missiles at a U.S. military base in Iraq.
ABC News also reports that the installations targeted were Erbil in northern Iraq, and Al Asad Air Base in western Iraq:
A U.S. official confirms to ABC News that ballistic missiles have been fired from inside Iran at multiple U.S. military facilities inside Iraq on Wednesday morning, local time. The facilities include Erbil in northern Iraq and Al Asad Air Base in western Iraq, the official said.
Just hours after the attack, Wednesday morning local time, Iranian officials confirmed the launching of "tens" of surface-to-surface missiles at Ain Assad air base.
The AP reports that White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham confirmed the White House was aware of the reports, and that U.S. forces weren't immediately available for comment.
