For the 5th consecutive year you can go to a Texas Rangers game and express your undying appreciation for the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The University Days that the Texas Rangers put on are a stroke of genius from the promotions department from the Rangers organization that feature every major university in the state of Texas. As a bonus to being surrounded by fellow Red Raider enthusiasts you also get a Texas Tech / Texas Ranger Hybrid baseball hat.

Here's a look at the 2016 version:

Beginning this Thursday, Red Raider fans can purchase discounted tickets for the May 22 game against the New York Yankees, which is a premium ticket for every Texas Rangers season.

To get a voucher for the hat you must buy tickets prior to March 31st. All tickets purchased after the March 31 deadline will receive a hat on a first-come, first-served based on May 22 at the gate.

Fans must have a specially marked ticket to be eligible. Tickets must be purchased through www.TexasRangers.com/UDays to be eligible for the limited-edition hats.

If all of that isn't enough incentive you might be able to see Big Sexy pitch, which is why I will be purchasing tickets to go to the game, also because of the hat.

(But mostly because of Bartolo.)

Texas Tech will also be recognized prior to first pitch between the Rangers and Yankees. FOX Sports Southwest will also feature a Tech coach during its live broadcast of the game that night. Previously Kliff Kingsbury has been featured, but I will venture a guess that Men's Basketball coach Chris Beard will get the spotlight.

In previous seasons the first pitch also comes from a Red Raider. Former Texas Tech Quarterback and son of Former Texas Ranger Patrick Mahomes threw in some high cheese back in 2016.
