The Houston Astros struggled offensively on Monday night as they fell to the Minnesota Twins by a final score of 4-2.  They did manage nine hits, but they were also 0-6 with runners in scoring position along with leaving eight Astros stranded.  Offense wasn't the only problem Houston had last night.  Two costly miscues, one a throwing error early in the game and another an inexplicable mental error in the ninth inning Monday night, proved to be the difference last night.

Sure, starter Brad Peacock could have been sharper and more efficient, and the offense could have done more than settle for solo home runs by Jose Altuve and Chris Carter, but the defensive mistakes loomed as large as anything for the Astros in the loss at Minute Maid Park.

With the lost, the Astros now sit at just 49-70 on the year which is 23.5 games back in the American League West.  Houston will continue their mid-week series against the Twins tonight with first pitch for that game set for 7:10pm.  The pregame will begin at 6:45pm and you can hear all the action right here on Sports Radio 1340 the FAN.
