Kyle Lohse (4-1) pitched seven scoreless inning, Matt Holliday and Tyler Greene both hit home runs to help the St. Louis Cardinals hold off a late rally by the Houston Astros for a 6-5 victory on Wednesday night at Minute Park in Houston.

Holliday had three hits in the game and his solo home run to left field put St. Louis up 1-0 in the fourth inning.

Greene played at shortstop for Ryan Theriot and hit his first home run of the season with his one-out shot to left field that made it 2-0 in the fifth. The Cardinals extended their lead with a four-run seventh inning with 5 team hits.

Houston starter J.A. Happ (1-4) pitched 5 innings giving 2 runs, both earned, on 5 hits with 2 walks and  5 strikeouts.
