Does Your Sip of Texas Wine Have a Chance of Being From Lubbock?

It's no secret that in recent years Lubbock has become one of the top sellers when it comes to wine but where does all that tasty wine actually come from? Well for those of you that didn't know it comes from Lubbock and the surrounding areas.

With the Texas Wines, Hops, and Shops event just around the corner we spoke with McPherson Cellars Wine Club & Service Manager Madison White to learn more about where the wine we drink actually comes from. Madison did inform us that 85% of grapes in Texas that are used for wine in the state come from the High Plains area, which is the area Lubbock is in. Even better is that 100% of the grapes McPherson Cellars uses in their wines comes from within a 30 mile radius making every bottle made a local Lubbock product.

The Texas Wines, Hops, and Shops event is being held at McPherson Cellars and will have plenty of other wineries, breweries, boutiques for people to enjoy and of course food trucks. This event does showcase many other businesses and is a great opportunity for the community to support local businesses as they come together. Tickets for the Texas Wines, Hops, and Shops event on April 22 are selling out fast and cost $45 in advance, or $55 at the door, those tickets can be purchased online.

If you do attend this event just remember that every sip of wine you take is a sip of Lubbock and the hard work that goes into growing those West Texas grapes. Lubbock is known as one of the greatest growers of cotton but a great writer once said "If cotton is king, then wine is queen.".
