The Dallas Cowboys have found a new backup quarterback for Tony Romo. Kyle Orton signed a 3-year deal after spending 2011 with the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs. NFL.com first reported the signing.

The Cowboys also made some defensive signings during the opening days of NFL Free Agency. Inside linebacker (ILB) Dan Connor signed a contract with Dallas last night after playing with the Carolina Panthers in 2011.  Connor is expected to compete for the second ILB position in Dallas' 3-4 scheme.

Other Cowboys free agent signings include cornerback Brandon Carr, safety Brodney Pool and fullback Lawrence Vickers.

The Cowboys last season missed the NFL Playoffs, finishing with a 8-8 record.
