Dallas Cowboy WR Dez Bryant Family Assault Charge Dropped, but with Terms

Dallas Cowboy wide receiver Dez Bryant has reached a deal with the District Attorney’s office to have his misdemeanor family assault charge conditionally dismissed.

The incident was stemming from when Bryant was accused of hitting his mother.

This according to a report filed in the Dallas Morning News.

Bryant’s mother, Angela, initially told police that she and her son got into an argument on July 14. She accused him of grabbing her, ripping her clothing, and slapping her across the face with a ball cap, according to a police affidavit.

Following the initial incident DeSoto police filed a Class A misdemeanor assault charge against the Cowboys wide-out, but Bryant’s mother later filed an affidavit of non-prosecution, saying she did not wish to pursue charges,

The district attorney’s office considered her affidavit and the fact that Bryant had no prior convictions when they settled on conditional dismissal.

If Bryant is arrested or charged with another crime within a year, he will then face the family assault charge.
