College Baseball Hall of Fame Announces 2014 Induction Class

The College Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday announced their 2014 induction class. Seven more people will be enshrined in college baseball's highest honor.

This year's class is highlights by former Wichita State head coach Gene Stephenson.  Stephenson won 1,837 games in Division I, the most all time.  Gene's brother, Phil, was already inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.

"It's great to unite the Stephenson brothers as inductees," said Mike Gustafson, president and CEO of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame. "Once Gene went on the ballot this year, there was no doubt he'd be a part of this year's class."

Gustafson also talked about this year's class, "This is a really well-rounded class. Once again, we have a small-school inductee in Demie Mainieri and a representative from an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) in William Clarence Matthews. They both have excellent credentials and I'm excited that they're part of this class."

This year's class will be inducted on June 28, in Lubbock.
