There is someone on the Texas Tech men's basketball team that is dealing with a serious injury as of late. No, it is not Zach Smith and his broken bone in his foot. This person is arguably the most important guy on the team and someone the Red Raiders need for the whole season.

After a practice last week, Head Coach Chris Beard suffered a torn ACL. And yet he still managed to coach the Red Raiders in the game against Iowa State. If you were watching you might of caught Beard take a spill onto the floor and favor his leg for the rest of the ball game.

While this really wasn't the official moment Beard tore his ACL, it certainly didn't make things any better.

Beard was plenty tough enough to power through the rest of the contes. However, the Red Raiders fell to Iowa State, 70-52. Beard made sure to tell the press what was happening after the game and even gave a special note for Ames, Iowa to make sure they mention.

Don't worry, Coach Beard -- no one around here thinks you're soft at all. I don't even think I would want to get out of bed, let alone coach an entire basketball game with a torn ACL.

Let's also not forget that Beard once coached a game with a broken hand from a result of punching a dry erase board when he was with the University of Arkansas Little-Rock.

Beard has said the current plan is to wait until after the season to medically deal with the injury.

No. 14 Texas Tech will visit the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday as part of the SEC/Big12 Challenge. That game will kick off at 11 a.m. on ESPN2.
