A bus that was transporting 12 inmates for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice crashed the morning of Friday, January 7th.

The crash happened just after 11 a.m. at I-27 and East County Road 5700. KAMC News reports that the bus was struck by another vehicle. Who was said to have been at fault wasn't specified.

None of the inmates or staff that were on the bus were injured, and they were all taken to a new replacement vehicle where they were evaluated by medical staff.

Captain Joe Gilliam with the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office specified that none of the inmates had escaped, and that there was "never a threat to the public."
