Texas Tech and Lubbock Christian University baseball standouts were drafted in the MLB Draft Tuesday and Wednesday by various organizations in the amateur draft.

Texas Tech Junior Shortstop Kelby Tomlinson was drafted by the San Fransisco Giants in the 12th Round, 387th overall Tuesday afternoon.  Tomlinson was a second team All Big 12 Conference selection in the 2011 season, his only season with Texas Tech, hitting .307 with 1 home run and 43 RBI to go along with 21 stolen bases.

Other Red Raiders drafted were Nick Popescu was drafted in the 33rd round by the Atlanta Braves, Zack Fowler in the 34th round by the Baltimore Orioles, and Reid Redman drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 37th Round.

Mike Marshall of LCU was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 30th round. Marshall went 9-0 with a 4.42 ERA on the mound and hit .337 with 15 home runs and 68 RBI for the NAIA National Runner-up Chaps.
