In the history of the NFL there has never been a cheerleader over the age of 42. Sharon Simmons hopes to change that very soon.

The 55 year old grandmother, who turns 56 in May, has been working out with former Cowboys Cheerleaders in hopes of making the squad during the next addition. Simmons, who is an author by trade doesn't see a difference between her and the 20 and 30 somethings one comes to expect when they think of Cowboys Cheerleaders.

Simmons told the Dallas Morning News, “On stage, I blend right in with women in their 20s, 30s and up." When asked why try out, she stated, "I thought, that’s something I never tried,” Simmons said. “I always wanted to try out. I got real close in my early 20s, but got busy raising my daughter. And I thought, why not now?”

Best of luck to her. We at 1340 The Fan wish her nothing but success.
