Davis Martin was a three-year letter winner at San Angelo Central before he went to Texas Tech and had one of the best freshman seasons in the history of the program.

As a freshman All-American, Martin put on a show at Texas Tech. He led Big 12 pitchers with 10 wins with a 10-1 mark on the year and a perfect 6-0 record in 8 conference starts. Martin's Big 12 ERA in his 2016 freshman season was a gleaming 2.00. He struck out 35 batters in those 8 starts and only allowed 10 runs against Big 12 teams.

Martin also owns the distinction of being the first ever Red Raider pitcher to earn a win at the College World Series after pitching a gem against Florida in 2016.

Martin then went on to have a solid Red Raider career working around a couple of arm injuries to get drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2018. The White Sox grabbed Martin in the 14th round, the 408th overall pick in that draft.

Martin went 9-9 in 2019, his first full season in the minors at the single A level with a 5.04 ERA. In 2021 when the minor leagues resumed, Martin split time between single A and AA posting a better ERA in AA than he had at any level yet.

This year has been his best yet, posting a 3.00 ERA in AA across five starts going 2-1. That got him called up to AAA where he started two games and went 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA.

He's been really, really good.

With the White Sox dealing with some COVID-19 issues involving some of their starters, they needed a spot start from a minor league arm for the second game of a double-header against the Kansas City Royals. It appears that Davis Martin will be that man.

Congratulations to Davis Martin and best of luck!
