Patrick Mahomes was on hand this last Saturday for much more than just the Texas Tech game against Baylor. The result of that game wasn't great, but it also didn't dampen what was an incredible evening for Mahomes and Texas Tech University.

The partnership between the pair has already been incredibly beneficial for both. Mahomes came to Texas Tech, got to play both football and baseball, got coached by one of the best offensive coaches in football over the last decade, and went to the NFL draft prepared. Mahomes landing in Kansas City was the perfect fit, which made it Mahomes' second perfect fit in a row.

Texas Tech has benefitted in many similar ways.

They got great play out of Mahomes while he was here, but since Mahomes has left campus, that perfect fit has remained. Mahomes, the Chiefs, and Texas Tech University have a marketing agreement. Mahomes gets insane engagement on social media tweeting about Texas Tech basketball, baseball, and football.

Mahomes has continued to be involved and is a fixture at as many Texas Tech events as he can get to.

For his play on the field, his marketing power, and his love for Texas Tech, Mahomes was put into the Ring of Honor and Texas Tech Hall of Fame.

Mahomes flew in and had a small hall of fame ceremony on Saturday afternoon. Then, at halftime of the Baylor game, Texas Tech inducted him into the Ring of Honor in a spectacular ceremony that included the Goin' Band spelling out Mahomes on the field and extravagant fireworks.
